How do I get a library account?
Faculty and staff need to visit the library in order to set up a library account. Distance instructors can email a request.
Faculty and staff library accounts expire annually. Returning staff must contact the library to reactivate their account.
How do I get a faculty/staff ID card?
Selkirk College faculty/staff ID cards are issued at Castlegar, Silver King, and Tenth Street libraries, as well as at the Trail campus.
Your ID card also acts as your library card.
How do I access databases remotely?
Use your computer login (Novell) to access databases remotely. This includes access from home or from a wireless device on campus.
How do I access My Library Account?
The My Library Account feature on the library homepage allows you to see what materials you have checked out and to renew these materials.
Login using your library account. Your User ID is the number on your Faculty/Staff ID card. By default, your password is the last four digits of this number. It is strongly advised to change your password after the initial login.
How do I recommend material for the library to purchase?
The library appreciates your input. If there are books, videos or other materials you think the Library should have, let us know and we will be happy to consider your suggestion.

How do I book AV equipment or a DVD to watch in my class?
Videos and DVDs can be booked in advance for a particular show date. This includes the Library's own videos/DVDs as well as those available from other BC postsecondary libraries. It is very important to request bookings as early as possible, especially in the case of videos/DVDs from other libraries.

How do I book a library instruction session for my class?
Librarians can provide bibliographic instruction for your students ranging from a general overview of library resources to classes targeted for subject specific research.
To arrange a session please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the Castlegar campus Library (250.365.1229) and ask to speak to a librarian.
How do I link to library resources?
Instructors can link to journal articles, streaming videos and other library resources. Links can be embedded in Moodle or in software such as MS Word or PowerPoint.
Where can I find answers to questions about Copyright?
Links to copyright information can be found here. More detailed information for instructors can be found on the internal Copyright Resources page. A librarian will also be able to assist with copyright queries.
How do I place material on reserve for my course?
Use our online Course Reserve Request Form to place an item on reserve. If the item is in the Library's collection, we will retrieve it and place it on the Reserve Shelf. If the item is from your own personal collection, please drop it off at the Main Desk in the Library.
Course reserves are collections of course-related resources selected by instructors to be set aside from general circulation for student use. Reserves are meant to allow instructors to make high-demand materials available to as many students as possible.
To ensure equitable access to material, reserve items are loaned for shorter periods than general circulation items. Instructors have the option of making items available for a loan period of two hours, one to three days, or one week.
Items available on reserve can be searched through the Reserve tab in the Library catalogue.
