The Copyright Act ((R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42) governs the use of copyrighted material in Canada. In order to be in compliance with the law Selkirk College follows the Fair Dealing Guidelines of the Colleges and Institutes of Canada (CICan)  Additionally the College has its own  Policy #8810: Use of Copyright Materials to guide staff and students in this area.

To ensure copyright compliance in the use and copying of copyrighted materials at Selkirk College, employees and students will need to determine if they are permitted to use the copyrighted work as they would like to. Consult the FAQ  tab for specific questions.

When the use of copyrighted works is not permissible under the above, permission to use the material must be sought from the copyright holder. To initiate a copyright clearance request, consult with the College Librarian, Gregg Currie
