Edgewood Lumber Company, Limited fonds, 1913-1934.Edgewood Lumber Company was in the business of manufacturing rough and dressed lumber, shingles, lath, and other wood products. The company was operated by William Waldie as principal from about 1913 through 1928. Originally from Ontario where family members were involved in the lumber industry, William Waldie and his company maintained a business and personal relationship with Robert S. Waldie and Fred N. Waldie of the Victoria Harbour Lumber Company Ltd., wholesale lumber manufacturing and merchants of Victoria Harbour and Toronto, Ontario. To provide wood for the Edgewood Lumber Company mill situated at Castlegar, B.C., sometimes known locally as "Waldie's Mill", the company bought and sold timber licences. Thus, Waldie was involved as an investor in Sunset Mills, Ltd. By January, 1929, the corporate name changed to William Waldie and Sons Ltd.; William Waldie remained President, John Carruthers Waldie became Vice-President, and William Thompson Waldie became Secretary.
